Theodore Bunevich (Ted), age 87, long-time resident of North Royalton, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, November 9, 2025. Beloved husband of 62 years to Eileen (nee Lachner); devoted son of the late Carl and Anna (nee Bibel) Bunevich; cherished baby brother of Doris (nee Bunevich) Brown (Gene) and the late Stevan Carl (Edith) Bunevich, William (Margaret) Bunevich, Roy Bunevich, Carl Bunevich, Annette (nee Bunevich) Lorko (Julius); dearest father of Theodore Carl Bunevich (Julie), Mark William Bunevich (Beth Ann), Robert John Bunevich (Laura), and Natalie Ann (nee Bunevich) Broadbent (Thomas); loving grandfather of Steffani (nee Bunevich) Hatfield (Chris), Trevor Bunevich (Libby), Annika (nee Bunevich) Gay (Zach), Lexa Bunevich, Cameron and Carley Broadbent, Julian Grimes, Tyler Wessling (Jasmyne), Morgan Wessling, and Tanner Wessling; loving great grandfather to nine.
Ted graduated from Parma Senior High School in 1956. Prior to graduation at the age of 16, he started working at the West Side Market. Ted was a Veteran Sergeant and Drum Major of the U.S. Army Ohio 83rd Division Reserves. On February 9, 1963, Ted and Eileen were married at St. Theodosius Russian Orthodox Cathedral in Cleveland.
Ted worked tirelessly for 55 years in banking, real estate, sales and giving music lessons. From the age of 8, Ted enjoyed playing the accordion (as well as keyboards, French horn, piano and tuba) and entertained many audiences (weddings, Independence Day parades) in several different polka bands including the Tom Mroczka Band. In his later years, Ted was a very special “#1 helper” with the “North Pole Crew” at Southpark Mall in Strongsville for about 18 years.
One of the original founders of Christ the Savior American Orthodox Church in North Royalton, Ted’s love for God and the church was ever present. He taught us that family is everything, to work hard, love harder, be grateful for all we have and above all, thank God for all the beauty and love all around us. He helped us to see God’s grace and be thankful with each new day.
His sense of humor, laughter, “Dad jokes”, and tearful prayers will be dearly missed. He will forever live in our hearts.
Family will receive friends at the Mallchok Funeral Home, 5660 Ridge Road, Parma, OH Friday, November 14, 2025 from 3 – 7 p.m. Trisagion Prayers at 5:45 p.m. All Funeral Services Saturday, November 15, 2025 at St. Matthew Orthodox Church, 10383 Albion Road, North Royalton, OH at 10 a.m. with visitation from 9:30 – 10 a.m. Interment with Military Honors will follow at St. Theodosius Cemetery.
