Susan Widdows Obituary

Sue was the daughter of the late Robert and Virginia Klima. Sue was a beloved sister to Richard Klima (Jeanne), Carol Claus (Mark), and Lois Czekaj (Tim); She was married for 32 years to Robert Widdows, who preceded her in death, and was the companion of James Hallis for 3 wonderful years; Sue was a caring stepmother to Kris Widdows (Michelle) and Scott Widdows (former wife, Tammy), and a proud grandmother to Steven, John, Stephanie, and Holly; she was also dearly loved by her eight nieces and nephews and five great-nieces and nephews.

After a 30-plus-year career in the Northeast Ohio steel industry, Sue embraced retirement by staying busy. She volunteered faithfully at the Parma Food Bank beginning in 2018, served as a Red Coat at Playhouse Square – where The Tina Turner Musical kept her “happy feet” dancing – and a dedicated zoo volunteer for 13 years, especially enjoying Boo at the Zoo and Zoo Lights. Meerkats and river otters were her favorites; she loved watching them play.

Sue loved nature and friendship, hiking more than 100 miles each month with the Cleveland Hiking Club and joining the Ridgewood Garden Club, where she found joy in community service, gardening, and shared lunches with friends.

An avid traveler, Sue visited 46 states and many countries, with Alaska and Iceland holding special places in her heart. Sue found great joy in creating beautiful works of counted cross stitch. She created meaningful pieces for weddings and babies in the family, yearly Christmas ornaments and countless pieces throughout her home – each stitched with love and care.

Sue will be remembered for her generous spirit, boundless energy, and her ability to find joy in everyday moments, and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
