Beloved husband of Sue (nee Panchak) (deceased); loving father of Donald (deceased), Richard (Debra), Robert (Janet), and Laurette Setlich (Eric); dear grandfather of Kimberly, Brandie (Mark Boltuc), Sam, Kevin, Robin, Shannon, Jacqueline, and Michael; cherished great grandfather of Sophie and Jonah; dearest brother of Irene Sekel and the following deceased: Michael, Andrew, John, George, Joseph, William, Elizabeth, Mary, Ann, Margaret, Helen, and Alice.
Mr. Basalla worked for 30 years at Club Products as a Plant Supervisor and 10 years at Gould Ocean Systems as an inspector for the U.S. Government.
He was active in the American Legion and VFW.
Mr. Basalla participated as a player and manager of both the St. Mary's Byzantine Holy Name Fast Pitch Softball Team and the Chuck’s Bar Softball Team.

Family will receive friends at the Mallchok Funeral Home, 5660 Ridge Road, Parma, OH, Monday, September 13, 2021 from 5 - 8 p.m. Parastas Monday at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Services Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at the funeral home at 10 a.m. followed by a Divine Liturgy at Holy Spirit Byzantine Catholic Church, 5500 W. 54th Street, Parma, OH 44129 at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow with military honors at Holy Spirit Cemetery.
