Age 94.
In the early hours of December 1, 2020, Khouryee Ruth Meena went to live with the Lord after a short battle with COVID-19. The devoted wife of the late V. Rev. Fr. James C. Meena and mother of the late V. Rev. Fr. Elias Meena (Gail), Ruth is survived by her daughter Camille (Dan) Patrick, James (Mary) Meena, and John (Laura) Meena and her ten grandchildren: Ruthe Patrick, Daniel Patrick, Rachel (Nick) Kourey, Andrew Meena, Rebecca (Wadia) Aboumrad, Elyse (David) Yiu, Alexandra Meena, Nick, Philip and Luke Meena and four great-grandchildren. Devoted Sister of Ramon Farris (Helen), Corrine George (Thomas, deceased), Edmund Farris (Geri) and the following deceased: Richard Farris, Louis Farris (Corinne) and Dolores Hanna (Halem). Ruth is survived by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins in the Nassif, Farris and Bourjaily families and an abundance of friends.
Ruth was beloved by parishioners throughout the Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese, most especially the parishes of St. Nicholas Cathedral Los Angeles, St. George Pittsburgh, St. Michael Greensburg and St. George Cleveland in which Fr. James served. In retirement, she and Fr. James were among a group of Orthodox Christians who founded St. Matthew the Evangelist Orthodox Church in North Royalton. The daughter of Najeeb and Amelia Farris, she was an active member of the parish choirs, Church school, Ladies Societies and a founding member of the Antiochian Women of the Midwest Diocese, a true daughter of the church.
"Jesus said unto him, 'Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.' This is the guiding light of Khouryee Ruth Meena's life. Not just of service to those closest to her, or to the community, but to everyone with whom she came in contact. Her love for people was unbounded. It was never too much for her to open her home to others, for an evening, a day, or years.
The family thanks the staff of Harmony Home Care and Mt. Alverna Village who lovingly cared for Ruth. Their devotion, compassion and kindness were deeply appreciated.
