Nancy (Christ) Zec

NANCY  ZEC, (nee Christ) age 87, died on Sunday, May 5, 2024 with her daughter Suzanne ("Suzi"), brother Steve Christ, sister-in-law Sue Christ, and niece Dawn by her side after a brief but devastating illness. She is also survived by granddaughters Lydia, Kandice, Rosetta (Keyona), Barbara, and Andrea; 13 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson, nieces, nephews, cousins and kumovi, as well as her son, Mark, with whom she was recently reunited after a 25-year absence from her life. She was preceded in death by her parents +Simo and +Anna (nee Knezevich) Christ, sister +Eve, daughter +Debra, and former husband of 24 years, Milan ("Mitch").

Her greatest joys in the last few months were meeting and holding her newest great-granddaughter Key'Lonni, beginning to establish a relationship with her granddaughter Rosetta and her wife Keyona, as well as the visits from her son, getting to meet her daughter-in-law Sarah and granddaughter Kate. She was very much looking forward to an upcoming family gathering, and the prospect of spending a week with her son's family this summer.

Nancy spent the last 18 years of her life living with Suzi, who was her primary caregiver over the last several years. She loved the home she helped create with her daughter, particularly the vegetable gardens and beautiful landscaping which Nancy helped maintain when her health still permitted. They spent many hours in the summertime on the front porch with Shorty and Patches, listening to music and sharing stories. They created many beautiful memories together, and her daughter is grateful for the privilege and honor of being able to share all these years with her.

Nancy had an enormous heart, shielded by a sometimes prickly exterior. When she let you in, there was no question how much she loved and cared about you. Her daughter was so proud of Nancy's many accomplishments as a strong, independent woman despite the many challenges in her life. She never gave up, never gave in — and fought to the end to stay with her family as long as possible.

Family will receive friends at the Mallchok Funeral Home, 5660 Ridge Road, Parma, OH on Friday, May 10, 2024 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Funeral Services will begin at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at St. Theodosius Cemetery.
