Michael S. Hricik, Jr. age 66 of Parma, Ohio, passed away November 12, 2022.
Michael was born to Michael and Margaret Hricik (both deceased) on September 12, 1956. He was their first born and then was a special older brother to David (deceased), Christine, Margaret, Richard, and Joe.
From the time he was very young, his Mother insisted that Michael learn to do things for himself even if it took him longer to accomplish. His younger siblings often played the role of Big Brother and Big Sister to Michael. With his family’s love, patience, and encouragement, Michael achieved goals of self-sufficiency that others thought were unattainable. Michael earned his diploma and graduated from the special education program of Parma Senior High in 1976.
Thereafter, Michael was a diligent worker and had a long career as a laborer. He had an unmatched attendance record and outstanding work ethic over 30 years that enabled him to retire with benefits. He made the most of what God gave him.
Michael’s greatest gifts were his innate sweetness, kindness, and sense of humor. He walked the earth softly and never harmed a soul. He loved a good meal, especially with family, his dog Tater, and his yard and garden in which he took great pride. He enjoyed old time TV shows and the news. Late in life he found comfort and friendship at the Parma Senior Center where he was always made to feel welcomed and wanted. His frequent calls to his family always ended the day with “Good night” and “I love you.”
He is survived by his siblings, nieces, nephews, and their spouses and children. With his passing, he leaves a large hole in all of their hearts, and their lives. He will be missed beyond words.
Mallchok Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Michael will be interred in a private ceremony for the immediate family.
In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to Special Olympics of Ohio.
