Mary (Mohnacky) Bodnar, age 98, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2022 in Onalaska, Wisconsin.
Mary was born to John and Maria (Revilak) Mohnacky in Cleveland, Ohio, November 7, 1923. She was their youngest child. Her brothers and sisters-in-law (all deceased) were Michael (Dorothy; Alice), John (Katherine), and Joseph (Mary) Mohnacky. Following her mother’s death, the children were raised by her father and stepmother Julia (Rohal-Suchy), who gave her step-siblings (all deceased) Mary, John (Anne), and Michael Suchy.
Mary grew to be a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was married to John F. Bodnar, Jr. (deceased) for more than 53 years; she had two children, John James Bodnar (deceased) and Kathleen M. (Harry) Nicklaus. She is the grandmother of Mark (Yvonne) and Amanda Nicklaus, and the great-grandmother of Liam and Kaden Nicklaus. She is the mother-in-law of Debra Bodnar. In addition, Mary was the step-grandmother and step-great-grandmother to Debra’s children and grandchildren. Her surviving family also includes brother-in-law, Elmer Bodnar and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
As a resident of Parma, Mary was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. She was also an avid bowler and golfer enjoying both sports into her early 90’s. Following the death of her husband and son she moved to Wisconsin in 2016 to live out her life with her daughter’s family.
Family will receive friends at the Mallchok Funeral Home, 5660 Ridge Road, Parma, OH on Sunday, November 13, 2022 from 2 - 4 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, November 14, 2022 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 7367 York Road Parma, OH 44130 at 10 a.m.
Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
