John Palencar

Age 95

John joined his wife Helen in heaven eight days before his 96th birthday.

Loving father of Eva Novak (Joseph, deceased); grandfather of Paul Novak, Col Joseph Novak, MD, PhD (Lucia), and Jaimee Novak (Andrew Harris, MD); great grandfather of Matthew, Wesley, Evalyn, Samuel, and Amelia; son of Jan and Dorota Palencar (both deceased); brother of the following deceased in Slovakia: Andrej, Maria Takac, and Anna Kontur.

John and Helen came to the U.S. in 1969 while in their early 40’s. They did not know English, but with great courage, hard work, resilience, and faith they created a wonderful life for them and their daughter, for which she and her children are forever grateful.

His work ethic was unmatched. He had a gentle and kind ever-present smile, and wave of his hand that his grandchildren affectionately call “The Dedo Wave” that will be fondly remembered.

Family wishes to thank Arden Courts of Parma and Holy Family Hospice for their exceptional care.

Family will receive friends at the Mallchok Funeral Home, 5660 Ridge Road, Parma, OH on Friday, July 19, 2024 from 4 - 7 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Chapel of Holy Family Home, 6707 State Road, Parma, OH 44134 on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 11 a.m. (Please meet at the Holy Family Home Chapel).

Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
