James R. Neitzel of Parma Ohio, age 79, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 21, 2022.
He was born on January 26, 1943, in Cleveland, OH to his parents the late Raymond and Helen Neitzel (nee Heppner). He was preceded in death by his wife Ann (nee Kostranchuk). He is survived by his children, Paul Kostranchuk (Kris), Ted Kostranchuk (Lorian), and Anne Yex (J.C.). The best grandpa ever to Nikki Powell (Dan), Jen Smith (Neal), Megan Henrie (Nate), Adam Kuhn (Jessica), and Great-Grandfather to many. Brother to Bob (Bernie), Ray (Lori), David (Karen), Gail Jirka (Al), Linda Petrillo (Mike), preceded in death by RaeAnn, and LaVonne (Cichocki) and Uncle and Great Uncle to many.
Jim served on the U.S.S Casa Grande LSD-13 in the Navy from 1960-1964. He was a Petty Officer 3rd Class, honorably discharged.
Jim was a good friend to all who knew him. He was a kind, warm-hearted, and caring man. Stray cats (and 1 raccoon) would find their way to his house for food and companionship. He enjoyed hanging out at the casino, gardening, throwing darts, and going to church. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Family will receive friends at the Mallchok Funeral Home, 5660 Ridge Road, Parma, OH. Wednesday, December 28, 2022 from 4 - 8 p.m. Parastas Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend the Divine Liturgy on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Holy Spirit Byzantine Catholic Church, 5500 W. 54th Street, Parma, OH 44129 at 11 a.m.
Interment with Military Honors to follow at Holy Spirit Cemetery.
