Gilbert C. Melda, aged 95, was a beloved husband to Rosemary (now deceased); a loving father to Mark, Ryan (IBEW L.U.38), and Scott (deceased); a cherished grandfather to Damon, Brandon, Matthew, and Jessica; and a caring great grandfather to Emmie, Jace, Benjamin, and Madison. He was also a dear brother to Ramon (deceased).
Gilbert was very involved in the activities of Bethany United Church of Christ (UCC) and was recently honored for his 70-year membership as a Mason. Notably, he served in the U. S. Army as a tank driver during the Korean War and achieved the rank of Corporal. Throughout his career, Gilbert worked as a machinist, tool & die maker, and later became a supervisor at Union Carbide Parma Technical Center.
With a deep appreciation for life, family, friends, and travel, he enjoyed spending his leisure time with loved ones golfing and bowling. Gilbert touched the lives of many through his generous allocation of time, energy, and commitment to his family and church.
The family will be receiving friends at the Mallchok Funeral Home, 5660 Ridge Road, Parma, OH 44129 on Thursday, June 13, 2024 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a Masonic ceremony on Thursday at 7p.m.
Funeral Services will take place on Friday, June 14, 2024, at the funeral home at 11 a.m. The entombment will follow at Brooklyn Heights Cemetery. A luncheon will be held afterwards at Stancato’s Restaurant, 7380 State Road, Parma, OH 44134 at 1 p.m.
