Age 95.
Beloved husband for over 61 years to Jean (nee Kasunic), dear father of Kathy (Paul) Rezek, Frank, Daniel (Kathy) Lizanich, loving grandfather of Alexander (Brittany), David Lizanich, Eva and Natalie Rezek, cherished brother of Margaret Cramer, fond uncle of many cherished nieces and nephews. George was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Helen Lizanich and siblings John, Frank, Charles, Michael, Stephen, Andrew, Anna Witkowski, Helen Garcia, and Julie Verbanetz.
A World War II Army infantry veteran. He received the French Legion of Honour and was knighted by the French government for his service in France in a ceremony at the American Legion, Jacubic Post 572 in December, 2014.
An avid softball player for the Huff & Puffer team; he is in the wall of fame in Cleveland and the Hall of Fame in the Senior Players Association in Mustang, OK.
Family will receive friends at the Mallchok Funeral Home, 5660 Ridge Road, Parma, OH. Monday, November 15, 2021 from 4-8 p.m. Relatives and Friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at Holy Spirit Byzantine Catholic Church, 5500 W. 54th Street, Parma, OH 44129 at 9:30 a.m. Private Interment with Military Honors will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, OH.
