ELEANOR (Cappas) HOVANEC

Passed away peacefully on January 6, 2021. She was 83.

For the past six years, Eleanor lived at the Athenian Assisted Living in North Royalton. She enjoyed playing Bingo, an occasional game of cards, and watching the Cleveland Indians and The Ohio State Buckeyes on TV. While those activities helped to fill the day, her favorite hobby was her family. She looked forward to our regular visits and phone calls, and especially loved family birthdays and holidays, when we could bring her to our homes to share in the celebrations, and she would visit with our family pets. Eleanor was a very generous and loving person, with a sweet disposition and beaming smile. She raised three children as a single Mom, with help from her own mother, the late Katherine Cappas. Both made many sacrifices to ensure that their three grateful kids had many, many fond childhood memories.

Eleanor is survived by her adoring children, Katherine Klonowski (Paul), John (Sharon) and George (Cindy); her cherished grandson, Ryan Hovanec; her treasured brother, Sam Cappas (Elaine); and two nieces, a nephew, and their families. She will remain forever in our hearts, and in those of all who knew her. Eleanor loved to entertain guests and feed them well, therefore, please consider a memorial in Eleanor’s name to the Greater Cleveland Food Bank, 15500 South Waterloo Road, Cleveland, OH 44110.

All Services at St. Paul Greek Orthodox Church, 4548 Wallings Road, North Royalton, OH 44133 on Saturday, January 9, 2021. Visitation from 10-11 a.m., with Funeral Services to follow at 11 a.m. Masks and social distancing are required. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Greek Orthodox Church.
